Lunch at Daavi's

P1010012
I found myself eating lunch at Daavi's (1400 block of H Street) yesterday. I was grabbing a bite with a friend just before 3pm (so R&B Coffee was closing & the Argonaut wouldn't open for another hour). I'd never been to Daavi's, but it seemed to be the only option, so we stopped in. The place was empty except for one man seated at the table next to us who seemed to be enjoying his dish. My friend ordered the spinach, and I chose the curried chicken ($8 each). Both had nice flavor & decent levels of spice. I have very limited experience with West African food, so I can't meaningfully compare Daavi's food to that offered by the other West African restaurants I've visited.

I've never really been impressed by it, but I don't know much about Ghanian food, and maybe that's just the way it is, a bunch of mush. I do like international cuisines.

Speaking of, I ate a Birdland a couple weeks ago to try it out. The music was way too loud and they recommended the fried fish (lots of bones) and it was okay. I'd be willing to try other items there, maybe if I take some earplugs.

A yoga buddy who served in the Peace Corps in Togo says Daavi's is the closest he's had to Togo-an food in the US.
