I saw the full Mikado a few years ago and enjoyed it thoroughly. Gilbert & Sullivan's operettas were tremendously popular in their day, and their appeal endures. I'm curious to see what was cut to condense the Mikado to under an hour, but perhaps the abbreviated version is a good way to introduce a new audience to these marvelous musical and comedic confections. I also recommend the Ang Lee movie "Topsy-Turvy", which is a well done film about Gilbert & Sullivan and the creation of the Mikado, and which also features several musical numbers from the operetta, as well as a few pieces from other of their works.

My thanks to "Inked" for reminding me that this was going on this weekend. It will be my first opportunity to support the Atlas theater.
