To Market, To Market

IMG_2313
I met up with Richard from Rebuilding Place in the Urban Space Saturday for a dry run (with a small group) of an informal tour we'd like to do of the Capital City Market (aka Florida Market, aka the wholesale food district). The tour would likely include many of the businesses appearing on this map, plus a good location or two that we feel the Post doesn't mention.

I'd love to take this tour sometime. I had too much going on this past Sat. to attend. Glad to hear this wasn't just a one time thing!

As an aside, I just read on the anc6a listserve that a nude dancing bar is trying to relocate to 13th and H. How big of a threat is this really?

I'll let you know more about the tour when I have more info. For now, you can always arm yourself with the Post map & head on over.

I desperately need to go on this tour. You may not know this but the Hamilton School is being used as swing space by DCPS. This means that schools rotate into Hamilton while their own buildings (located all over DC) are being renovated/rebuilt.

DCPS has done almost nothing to make this space attractive but I would like to be able to let the teachers/administrators know about the great parts of our neighborhood while they are temporarily posted here.

I have discovered that all too many people in DC never leave their own neighborhoods. They have no idea how interesting and fun other parts of the city are. Please make sure to publicize this widely.
