Does anyone know anything about the shooting yesterday in the vicinity of H & 12th streets NE? My wife and I discovered that the block of 12th street north of H was blocked off in the late afternoon and multiple police cars were present. I asked one of the officers what had happened and he said a man had been shot. I scanned the Washington Post this morning but didn't see anything about it. This is the same intersection where a girlfriend of a Nationals player was robbed a few weeks ago after she left a check-cashing place.

Actually the other incident was on the 1000 block. (Not that it matters necessarily.)

Richard - the robbery took place at the Money Mart that is next to (or near to) Cluck-U Chicken. I learned of the robbery because I went by to get some chicken about an hour or so after the incident, and there was a heavy police presence. But don't take my word for it: "Authorities said the crime occurred outside the Money Mart in the 1100 block of H Street NE."

Anyway, I just find it odd that there wasn't a story on this in the Post today (unless I missed it). I sent an email to the metro section of the Post to see if they know anything.

The Money Mart is on the north side of the 1000 block of H Street. While I don't know the exact address, it's probably something like 1014 or 1016. Hair Rage across the street is 1017. Sonny's Plumbing is 1000.

However, as you point out, the location indicated is 12th and H. Is that place on the corner a Money Mart? I don't think so, but I am relying on memory.

Richard - the address of the Money Mart where the robbery occured is 1125 H street, NE. It is located on the South side of the street, next to Cluck-U chicken. Their number is 396-5170, and I called to confirm both the address and side of the street.
