What is the Showbar???
Jul 4, 2006, 6:40:00 PM
Showbar is the same thing as the Palace of Wonders. Early on the name was just Showbar, but now I think the full name is Palace of Wonders Presents Showbar.

so where's the bar that has no cover? all the way at the argonaut? a cover over $10 has already deterred some people i know. showbar even has one on the grand opening? that will turn people away. and for shows that wont interest everyone? so where can we go to drink and gather, without paying a cover? there really should be some alternative on H street.

The Argonaut definitely does not have a cover. The Red & the Black, the Majestic by Gwen, Rose's Dream, the H Street Martini Lounge, Palace of Wonders & Phish Tea all might have a cover when there is live music. Also, Palace of Wonders is already open (generally without a cover), but this is their big grand opening celebration show.

The Red and the Black only has a cover if you want to go upstairs to see a band. It's free to simply sit at the bar on the main floor.
