It's almost back to school time again & that means many area schools will need a little spiffing up. You can do your part by volunteering at any of our local DC public school, or at Holy Name on August 26th. Find out how below:

NE DC Catholic School Gets a Makeover!
Volunteers Clean-Up Holy Name Before the School Year Begins
This is one design makeover that may never make it onto HGTV, but it will mean everything for the 180 students of Holy Name Catholic School, located near Gallaudet University in Northeast Washington. More than 80 volunteers organized by the Christ Child Society, will hold a special School Beautification Day on:

Five classrooms will receive a new coat of paint and water-damage repairs, three offices will get a facelift and school grounds will be weeded, cleaned and landscaped. Before the volunteers tackle this work, a new fence will be installed to protect the property and American University freshmen will prepare the rooms for painting. Supplies have been donated by Long Fence,
McCormick Paint and Home Depot.
Founded in 1887 to meet the needs of economically challenged, vulnerable inner-city children, the Washington, DC chapter of the Christ Child Society is a close partner of the District¹s Catholic schools. In addition to special projects such as the Beautification Day, the charitable organization sponsors an Adopt-A-School program, donating needed resources and volunteer
hours, a School Uniform program for low-income children and a School Counseling Program for 16 Catholic schools. Clinical social workers provide a wide array of mental health services for the schools, including mental health services, violence prevention, crisis intervention and faculty and parent workshops.
The first day of classes for parish Catholic schools in the District of Columbia and five Maryland counties (Calvert, Charles, Montgomery, Prince George's and St. Mary's) will be Tuesday, August 29.
