Action on Florida Ave Sun AM

If you tried to drive down Florida early on Sunday morning you may have seen lots of police cars. There was a carjacking elsewhere in the city and the kids sped down Florida striking another car at the intersection of Florida and Montello before striking a light pole outside Jimmy's Tire (1215 K Street).
Four juveniles then exited the car and ran down Florida heading east. Police were out in full force coming the neighborhood for them. Miraculously, no one was injured (but at least three cars were damaged). No word on if they were apprehended.

A couple of weeks ago, some kids that had stolen a car, turned into Parker Street and crashed into a car and fled. There were three of them.

No word on any apprehensions.

I have to wonder if it's related, or just the summer surge.

DC kids are so cool and smart to steal cars and run.

I vote for summer surge. UUVs are too common around here.

the summer surge of car thefts led to my rethinking and refavoring year round schooling in DC.

That's a good idea, Richard. I too like to think that these criminals actually do attend high school.

Or junior high.
