Sober Ride

MPD reminds you of the sober ride program. It's a great program, but you may end of waiting a long time for a ride, so your best bet is to walk, take public transit, or designate a driver.

DUE TO the festivities of the holidays and the vast amount of celebrations (alcohol involved) on New Years eve….. we would like to ensure that the public utilizes the following service vs. drinking and driving:

1 800 200 TAXI or #TAXI on cingular wireless telephone (numbers to use)

Those that call this service can get taxi service during this holiday season (December – January 1, 2008) (10pm-6am each day) – to avoid driving under the influence

Must be 21 yrs of age to use this service

Yeah. "Long time" doesn't cut it. This evening we were completely abandoned and ended up paying almost $60 for a cab ride home after waiting ~5 1/2 hours for the free ride. I'm glad that our taxes are hard at work.

So why didn't you take the bus?

I don't your taxes pay for the sober ride program. I hope not anyway.

According to WTOP and News8, corporate sponsors pay for the program.
