uh, you walking in the parade, will not get cops on to H street. They will make a show for a couple of days, and then after you have patted yourself on the back, they will disappear along with Tommy.

Betcha they are not visible in two weeks.

Who from MPD is participating, and is this going to be focusing on H Street? Officer's at last night's PSA 102 Meeting (which covers H Street) were not aware of the walk. Or is the walk focusing on 103, not H Street?

Also, thanks to the work of business/bar/restaurant owners along H Street, a reimbursable MPD detail will be working H Street on Friday and Saturday nights/early a.m. This "partially subsidized" detail has its costs more or less split between the establishments, and ABRA. 4 officers will be on a dedicated foot patrol from the 1100-1400 Blocks of H St NE. This detail has nothing to do with the normal patrols along H Street and throughout 102 - these are strictly officers, earning overtime, that are specifically hired by H Street establishments to patrol/respond to those and immediately surrounding blocks.

A big thanks to the establishments on H Street, and to ABRA/MPD and members of the community for making this happen.

Is there more that must be done for public safety on H Street? Heck yeah. Are we headed in the right direction? Yes.

If you are going to bash local politicians at least go by some type of online name so we can identify you and know your history.

I disagree with Tommy Wells on several issues, but saying that he hasn't been active in trying to improve H Street, including improving safety, simply isn't true.

i got the impression that the december 11th walk is for the rosedale neighborhood and vicinity. i think ken is from the rosedale citizens alliance.

The walk will focus on chronic crime and nuisance property issues surrounding Minor Elementary School. The group will loop around the school and discuss specific areas of concern and potential ways to solve them. Ward 6 Council Member Wells, MPD-1D and the Mayor's Office will attend. Daniel Conner (dconner@dccouncil.us) with Tommy Wells' Office coordinated the walk at the request of constituents.
