Menu for Sullivan's

I recently followed the advice of friend's and stopped by to check out a fairly recently opened carryout on Bladensburg Road (same block as Jimmy Valentine's). I ordered the fried clam strips, and the shrimp po-boy. The clam strips were solid, and the sandwich was highly craveable. The friend who split the items with me agreed. The only downside I could find was that they don't have oysters on the menu. I was, however, told that this might change. While Sullivan's is a carryout, the food quality is ore what you would expect to get at a sit-down restaurant. Your food is cooked to order. Matt, who originally alerted me to Sullivan's, could not stop talking about the crab cake, so I've got to check that out soon.

Interesting. Don't think I've ever noticed this place. Will definitely check it out. On a side note, I finally stopped by Sugar last week on w. va., and was incredibly impressed. Im surprised there hasn't been more chatter and publicity about them.

Inked -- any chance of backing down the size of the fonts used here? Wow.

THis looks great, I'm there.

I also made it to Sugar. The food was good, value was good, and the people were very friendly.

Only downside was the drunk smoking a cigarette who came in while I was waiting for my order.

looks terrific. i wish it was a sit down joint with beer.

if i lived closer, i'd prolly hit that a bunch.

Yes your friend was correct. I stopped by this spot after noticing the signage "1/2 pound crabcake". The crabcake is the best in the area! On another visit, I had the shrimp and grits for breakfast which was delicious as well.

Oh how disappointing !! I had my mouth all shaped for Shrimp and Grits this morning, but no one was at Sullivan's when I swung by (twice - 7:45 and 8:45 am). Closed up tight, padlock on the door, phone just rings and rings. Hope everything is OK . . .

Just got off the phone (10:18am). They're open for lunch. I'm headed over to try the crabcake and the clams.

...and you CVS for immodium thereafter?

Wow - Definitely worth the wait !! I stopped back by for lunch. Mr. Sullivan graciously explained some of the difficulties of running a basically one man show and the occasional late opening, then prepared the best Shrimp and Grits I have ever had . . . prepared fresh and delicious long after breakfast hours were over. Thank you !! And yes, I will be back !

I had lunch at Sullivan's today and was very impressed with the experience. The lunch carryout was superb!

Here's my report. Bottom line: best crabcake in town. All lump and claw meat, zero breading, light mayo binder, a hint of Old Bay.

Funny I was looking for a place near-by that has an afforable seafood platter...in reading your menu...I will be there this weekend.

Tried it last night. This place is legit. Can't believe they've been there since October and I haven't heard of it. I hope they do well enough to stick around. some marketing would help. Capital City Diner will hopefully bring more traffic their way.

Can't wait to try them Saturday. I have been jonesing for a good crabcake. Thanks for the heads up inked.

If they're better than Miss Charlotte's on Minnesota Ave by the Aquatic Gardens, I'm there.

I can say that this is, hands down, the best crabcake I've had (and, yes, I've had Miss Charlotte's). I've patronized Sullivan's over the past few months while working on the diner across the street, and am pleased with each visit.

Also try the seafood salad or the fried shrimp; both are also among my favorites.

Went there for lunch today and I am still full. Not sure I'll need dinner, but if I do, I'm going to Sullivans. Awesome crab cake sandwich. I also sampled the seafood salad, which he said was their specialty. If you like seafood, you'll love the salad. I can't believe I've never heard of this place either.

Just went there for lunch and had a fish sub and a little of the seafood salad.....the main takeaway is that the SEAFOOD IS VERY FRESH....and the portions are big too. Definetly worth checking out.

i've been to miss charlotte's as well—going to have to check this out.

sugar is quite good too. definitely worth checking out!

I went to Sullivan's last night, my daughter and I shared the crabcake and shrimp dinner.

The crabcake was the biggest I have ever had but not my favorite because it was deep fried and I prefer crabcakes sauteed or broiled. But it was loaded with crabmeat and was a great value. If you like crabcakes fried this could be your all-time fave.

The shrimp were alright for a takeout place but not the stuff of daydreams. The guy who made up our dinner was friendly and gave us a sample of the seafood salad which we liked.

All in all a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I wish them good business and hopefully one day they can put a few tables inside and remove the bulletproof glass.

I was there on Monday for lunch .I had the fish only platter dinner. The fish was very fresh and the portins were enough for two people. This place could really rock if they had a sit down and put a little effort with the front portion of the interior ie paint, new counter tops,signage.....over all the food is really good much success
