Interesting. I wonder if his opening first as a cigar and tobacco shop will allow circumvention of the smoking ban. Also, if I remember correctly, this was opened at least in part by a DC police officer.

Dope.

I can't wait until there are trendy places on Mt. Olivet Rd!

And yes, I know this place has been open for a couple of years now.

This is way cool. I just wish I could afford a membership

I love how they throw "poetry readings" in there as if that's going to conceal the fact they are becoming a club...

Im not sure it could be a club. I mean it's not huge in there. It's nice. We you give them a fair hearing.

Any who just trying to be uncharacteristically open minded.

Friday night is non members night, so no membership is needed. Up until about two weeks ago the cigar shelves were empty for over a month, I thought it was a sign of going out of business.

Does this also mean that they are loosening up the membership rules too? In any case, this might be good for them. I hope if they get this passed, they continue to be the good neighbors that they have been. I shed a tear when they opened. I quit smoking cigars a year before, and I loved me some cigars.

Robby, I bet we could fool them into thinking we had one membership. You just wear the pin on Mondays and Wednesdays, and I wear it on Tuesdays and Thursdays:)

Cool!! How much is membership? What do you do in this place (besides smoke cigars)?

Entertainment endorsements are often last ditch efforts to get money.

hmmm...i always thought this store was just a tobacconist, where you could buy stuff. didn't realize it was a private club.

This place has been around going on 3 years. The guests/members are professionals, polite, and welcoming. They appear to have been going through a 'tough' time (as with most people during this recession), but I think that this will be the added bonus they need to get on their feet. Even if the membership is lifted, it has arleady acheived the image of it being a nice upscale place with respectable people (no rif-raff) where you can go and literally put your feet up, smoke a good cigar (you can even bring your own), have a good glass of your choice of spirits (nice Scotch selection), watch the games, professional boxing matches, listen to an array of music (the owner is a music lover)& with the band/dj/or Karyoke (that would be a plus), have great conversations and a few good laughs, network, recieve great personal customer service and go home until the next time. It's kind of like a new neighborhood "CHEERS" with a good finished basement feel.... GOOD LUCK TO THEM!!!!
