I wish this person wouldn't review places on H Street or Capitol Hill.
She's bored and boring. Nothing ever really pleases her and there's no reason why we should care.
H Street is not so desperate for attention that Frozen Tropics or any of us have to link or pay attention to somebody just because they mention the street, neighborhood, or community.
There are thousands of local bloggers. Who cares what most of them think?

My wife and I had dinner with a friend last Friday night. We seem to be lucky on our timing - at 7pm we only had to wait five minutes. If we would have arrived 10 minutes later, we would have waited for awhile (good sign). The pizza was great and the wine list very reasonable – all bottles just $30. The service was also very good. The tough part is the tables are pretty close together. All in all, H Street has another great sit-down restaurant.

I disagree with Anon 7:01. I think that Inked pointing out these types of things is helpful. If you don't like them, don't read them.

I think that this person's take on liberty tree is pretty fair. We've been twice and enjoyed it-- but she's right, they have some issues to work out. They've only been open for a few weeks. I have high hopes for the place!

Textbook inversion of the scientific method! If the hypothesis is not proven positive, alter the method by which it is evaluated until it becomes positive!

I don't see why we have to only consider positive reviews. It seems like any time someone has a bad experience at an H Street establishment, there is an army of posters desperate to discount the experience.

For what it's worth, I had the opposite reaction to Capitol Bites' feelings about the Cape Cod Casino pie--I can't wait to have it again. I love Liberty Tree so far, and can't wait to enjoy fried whole-bellied clams on their patio.

I didn't care for LT. Overall bland food and mediocre furnishing.

Best of luck to them though.

Anyone else find the fluorescent lights from the kitchen a bit much? I recognize they want the flames of their esteemed pizza oven to be visible...and recognize the value of an "open" kitchen...but think the lights destroy any degree of ambiance.

I agree wholeheartedly that the bright flourescent lights in the kitchen destroy any sense of ambiance. They make what would otherwise be a nice bar completely uninviting and actually draw attention away from the pizza oven to the dishwashing going on in the back of the kitchen. This would be simple to fix and make the place a lot more inviting and comfortable.

Here's another vote for changing the lighting in the kitchen. I've been there once and enjoyed the food. I had the tuna salad and thought it was good - especially considering it was only $9! But the lighting in the kitchen needs to change. The bar looks nice but I'll never sit there knowing I'll have to look into that bright light.

Liberty Tree,
Please don't change a thing but always improve and and rotate the menu. I found nothing wrong when I was in there and am getting the impression that these ANON posting are snots that would NEVER be happy.

I am glad you are here and are open.

This place is one of my favorite places on H St. That being said everything can be made better. It is a new business so it is a given that the owner would probably like input as they did have surveys the first few weeks.

I have been there about 5 times and have a few critiques. The meatball sub really needs a little seasoning, otherwise it was good. The shrimp app was FANTASTIC. The pizzas are much better now than when you opened, little more seasoned now.

My meatball sub also had a piece of paper in it probably from the cheese slices but that is understandable and will not deter me from visiting again.

I agree with all the kitchen lighting comments, we were talking about that last night. The owner tried to limit the light from the kitchen with a curtain at the ceiling but it is not totally effective.

The service is AWESOME every time so far as was the hostess.

Positive feedback really will help everyplace on H St become better I hope the owners appreciate it as that and not criticism.

We only wish you had taken the building from NAPA 1015 as it is much bigger. This place will be PACKED all the time. Roof deck??? Brunch menu?

Totally agree about the harsh kitchen lighting - our only real less-than-positive comment to our latest visit. Easy fix: extend the curtain down another foot or so?

I've been to LT once and enjoyed it. I just wanted to make one comment with regard to their wine list. Although I love when a restaurant's wine list has a large selection of lower-priced bottles, merely having a lower prices doesn't necessarily equal value. For instance, every bottle on LT's wine list sells for $30 -- which would be a great price....if the wine sold at retail for, say, $12 to $15. But I've bought one of the wines on LT's list (Hogue Riesling) for $7 at a local wine shop. In my opinion, a mark-up of over four times retail is a little excessive.

That said, I still liked the place and will be back soon. I'll just drink beer.
