Why do places do this? Why not just have a semi-annual sale something?

Marrion Berry - if they have it (it's a seasonal berry from OR) - so delicious, hard to find and a conversation piece, of course.

Sweet now that total asshole from the other day can buy like 5 of these and stash them until DDP runs into some tragic streak of bad luck.
Just kidding guy.
Inked I wouldn't consider it shameless if you posted the referral link (3 referrals = free) on FT so that you could piggyback on the community following you've got here. We all know you deserve it.

Extremely disappointed with DDP. My wife and I stopped by this eve to purchase two pies and were told that we needed the hard copy of the coupon. My wife showed the counter the electronic copy from her I-phone, but the smart arse girl refused the sale. Sorry DDP, that is strike 2 and this household is done with you.

Dear Anon 10:43,
Places do this because they get the money right away. And if someone forgets to use a coupon, they get the money for free.
If they merely had a semi-annual sale, they'd have to wait to make sales to get the cash, and they wouldn't get any extra $ from unused coupons.
This is better for them. So they do it.

anon 10:43,
marketing 101. always try to reach new clients. a sale only rewards your current customers.
anon 11:44,
sticky rice requires a print out too.
so do a few other places.
Jul 18, 2010, 9:40:00 AM
come on...printouts??? build a solid client base and don't turn away a potential sale!!!
Jul 18, 2010, 9:44:00 AM
To those complaining about DDP refusing the coupon, please read the instructions: Your credit card will not be charged for this until Monday. You will then be given a link to your coupon, which you will then be able to redeem.
In other words: READ THE F***ING INSTRUCTIONS.
Note: I have no affiliation with DDP, but am eagerly awaiting redeeming my coupon (according to the terms of agreement).

Ugh. Is this another one of those things where you'll be socially stigmatized if you actually try to use this coupon?

you might. i don't.
Jul 19, 2010, 9:25:00 AM
NO anon 8:06- that only happens if you try to use your Food Stamps card.

if DDP catches fire, burns down, re-opens, and you use it immediately after and without tipping (hmm actually, i dont know, do you tip on pies?)...then yes. otherwise, no.

Excellent analysis. That's the best thing about this type of community-based forum. If you're ever in doubt that you're behavior might be veering into the realm of toxic, anti-social behavior, just ask: your neighbors will be kind enough to let you know!
:)
