A look at what's going on in Trinidad, on H Street, and in the larger area north of Capitol Hill.

Stolen Bike

missing folding bike NE DC

I live in the Atlas district and my beloved folding bike was stolen last night, Tuesday, July 13, from outside of Toyland bar at 5th x H NE. It was disassembled, so someone may have seen someone taking it apart, around 8:30 or 9pm.

UPDATE 7/25/2010 10:10pm

From the bike's owner:

My bike was recovered! Thanks in big part to a tip I received from someone who saw my flyer on this site. I really appreciate the help! Unfortunately, the thieves pretty much destroyed the bike (frame is broken, folding bracket torn apart, spray painted) but the guy who was caught with it was arrested and is facing charges. So thanks as well to DC MPD.

probably a stupid question - but how do you know it was disassembled?

I'm guessing because the lock was intact, but the bike was gone.

Special thanks in particular to Officers Furnari & Kimball of the 1st District PD who worked quickly and made the bust!
