Want to Check Out Smith Commons?

Then make sure you hit up the H Street Festival September 18th from 12-6pm. The new restaurant is planning a special early opening preview with craft beers available on tap and in bottles.

Sadly, the H Street Festival is being held on Yom Kippur this year, so I can't make it.

I have no idea how Smith Commons is going to be ready in 16 days. Walked by it yesterday and it is still looking like a demo site. Windows still blown out, dry wall not even done, etc etc. Best of luck to them!

Jordan, it's not a soft opening or anything. It's just a good opportunity for them to show off their space in front of thousands of people, even if they aren't fully open. They already have their liquor license. I've been in a number of times and the space is amazing. People can get a sense of the place even if they aren't fully done. If you remember, assuming you were here last year, the Biergarten served brats and beer, and they had barely started construction.

Where the heck is Smith Common? Is it that place next to the Auto Zone?

It is on the other side of the parking lot, which used to be the carpet store.

OT-- What's the deal with the place on "Mead's Row" that has gotten the interesting facelift of stone and copper? (the place right next to Joy of Motion)

Kenny G,
I asked people working on it and they said Greek and Japanese restaurants. I'd take that with a grain of salt, but who knows.

Sweet-- a Greek Sushi place (or is it a Japanese Taverna?) to go with our Jewish Deli!
