Candidate Statement: Laura Casperson ANC 5B07

I've posted several statements from ANC Candidates, and here's one more. As always, the mere posting of the statements does not constitute an endorsement, but is instead merely offered as a public service. That said, I am endorsing this particular candidate (I'm only make endorsements in 5B races this year due to some time commitment issues on my end).


PLATFORM
-Coordinate with the police to improve Community Policing and implement measures to improve public safety.
-Hold regular SMD meetings so that we can all meet, share ideas and work together to improve our neighborhood.


-Bring together WASA, the DC Government and the community to achieve sewer cleaning/flushing to stop basement flooding during rainstorms, caused by aging WASA infrastructure.
-Partner with DPR to improve Trinidad Recreation Center through repairs and improved programming for children, teens and adults.
-Support beautification projects through garden clubs, DDOT projects, community organizations and events.
-Coordinate with DCRA, OTR and other DC Government agencies to combat vacant and run down properties.

BACKGROUND
-3+ yrs resident and homeowner in Trinidad.
-Healthcare and business professional serving as Chair of Health Professionals Licensing Board. -Serving on the Trinidad Neighborhood Association Board to enhance neighborhood.
-Past member of Fairlawn Citizens Association in Ward 8.
