More about Winter Soul Session Vol. 1

Vol. 1 of the Winter Soul Session features Carmen Rodgers, a Dallas, TX songstress who has made her mark over the past several years as one of the bright stars of the independent soul movement, both as a singer and as a sought-after songwriter. The Mississippi-born Rodgers independently released her debut CD, Free, a mellow, lyrically strong disc that deservedly became an underground soul hit, staying in the CD Baby top 10 for months. She will making her debut in DC singing songs from “Free” and her latest release “The Bitter Suite”.

Also performing is Kenny Wesley, a Jacksonville, NC native who sings with the tenderness of a soul crooner, and in the same breath, with incredible agility and freedom. Kenny Wesley is the young new face of contemporary and jazz music. He has shared the stage with several national recording artists such as Anthony David, Kindred, Yolanda Adams, Tamia, Vikter Duplaix, Mike Phillips, Gordon Chambers, Maya Azucena, and Jimmy Sommers.

Teisha Marie is an England-born/Maryland-raised singer-songwriter and classically trained multi-instrumentalist and poet. She will be performing songs from her debut album, Addicted to Life - The LP, conveys sounds of hope, love and appreciation of life's complexities. Songs like "More Important" and "Inner Truth" touch on the value of self-reflection and sincerity.

Deborah Bond will be the Special Guest Hostess for the night. This is a soulful event that you won't want to miss!
