Kidical Mass Dines at Argonaut 4/23

IMG_3617

The WashCycle and Greater Greater Washington are excited about Kidical Mass. Kidical Mass is a national movement that seeks to organize safe and fun family cycling events. Kidical Mass comes to Washington DC for the first time April 23rd.  Participating families will gather near Eastern Market Station for a bike decorating party before riding through the streets of the Capitol Hill neighborhood. The ride ends with brunch at the Argonaut (1433 H Street).

Participants can join the festivities starting at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 8th and D Streets SE (opposite Eastern Market Station on the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue SE). Light refreshments provided by local businesses will be served, and children will have an opportunity to decorate their bikes, bike seats or trailers using craft materials donated by SCRAP-dc. Young children using tricycles or push bikes who are unable to join the main ride are welcome to participate in this part of the event. At approximately 11:00 am, riders will depart on a short (2-3 mile) ride through Capitol Hill using quiet streets and bike lanes before ending at the Argonaut for brunch. Prizes from BicycleSPACE will be awarded at the end of the ride. Register online by emailing: KidicalMassDC@gmail.com. You can also follow @KidicalMassDC on Twitter.

Fun trivia: Megan Odett who is interviewed about the ride on the WashCycle page is a a former Argonaut employee and a former resident of Trinidad and Near Northeast.

wheres that kids helmet?

give him a couple years. He'll soon learn to steal your little white kid's helmet. Also, try to not be such a prat.

This event sounds super, by the way!

anon 6:28 probably just prefers overt racism to the latent, patronizing and condescending crap that gets thrown up here regularly. Just a guess, but I bet that kid's parents come from a socio-economic/cultural milieu where bike helmets aren't exactly on their radar.
