What's Cooking at the Capital City Diner?
Last Sunday afternoon I stopped by Capital City Diner. I spoke with owner Matt Ashburn about his plans for the Diner's near future. Matt has constructed a comfy patio out back, and is finishing up the outdoor bar. Having cleared the full permitting process, Matt expects to have the area open to the public very soon. It'll be ideal for Saturday and Sunday brunch (generally the Diner's busiest times) because the new space should more than double the amount of available seating. The rear space would likely also be open Friday and Saturday nights (available for private parties). No photos yet, because it's still a work in progress, but it's getting very close. Matt is currently selecting plants to green the space up. Once completed, the patio could accommodate a dj, or even a live blues band. Personally, I'm still pushing for a tiki party.
