Ward 5 Redistricting Task Force Blog

Offer your ideas on the ANC and SMD redistricting process through the Ward 5 Redistricting Task Force Blog. It's not as rich in data as the one for Ward 6, but there's still time.

I'm not sure if I missed it but what's the meeting time. Also how were the task force members selected?

next meeting is on august 24th, time will be 6:30 pm.

the councilmember's office says they selected one person from each census tract in the ward.

The ward 6 website seems to assume Kingman Park will be put back in Ward 6. Is that even on the table anymore?

I don't have time to read the entire website to find out for sure, so I figured I would ask here.

Is there any chance eastern Trinidad drops out of the 5th?

Harry: If you mean "Will Trinidad leave Ward 5?" the answer is no. The ward boundaries have already been set.

Basic,
you'll be in 5B somewhere (either 5B11, or 5B12 depending on your exact address).

You can call (or go to the website of) the Board of Elections and Ethics to figure out your own SMD.

5B11 T. J. McMichael 1118 21st Street NE 103
Washington, DC 20002 5B11@anc.dc.gov
5B12 Bernice Blacknell 2114 I Street NE #3
Washington, DC 20002

TomA-

Kingman Park will remain in Ward 7. That boundary was made firm by the City Council.

ANC 6A invited Kingman Park to create a joint Ward ANC - a new 6/7A ANC. There are currently several joint Ward ANCs. It seemed to ANC 6A that we share many issues in common with Kingman Park, that what affects one side of 19th Street equally effects the other.

The Ward Six Task Force and ANC 6A have proposed this combined ANC but the City Council will have the final say.

Wow, anyone else notice how ward 5 seems to have gotten very, very quiet about redistricting? One meeting announcement and not a peep from it.
