Seems like a nice idea for a restaurant but isn't this in kind of a dive neighborhood? Not sure if I should venture out from my palace in East H which is leafy green and swan-graced.

Better check outside to see if those swans have been stolen yet.

This is pretty close to Trinidad, which means it's unsafe. I'll pass.

@Professor Starbust

You are correct, my prince! Please stay in your fine ghetto palace in the East.

Seriously people? Let it go.

This place looks like a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Can't wait to try a burger!

Just got home from hanging out there. I like the beer and the burger I had was good and filled me up. There were lots of people there, some of which I think showed up because they noticed they were open.

This is a place that will brake the curse of the location (there have been far too many places at that location).

Only suggestion; make more seating. Nothing like an opening night with too many people to handle.

I'm optimistic, but would be better if they didn't have some of the same employees as Fake Toyland.

Time to let it go people. They made a mistake, owned up to it and everyone has moved on.

Nice to have another place opening up on H. Hope they are successful.

Am I missing something here? What's all this about?

Hey guys, can't say it was an evening without its bumps and bruises, but we hope that the hospitality and Chef Mike's incomparable ability to serve a burger exactly to temp.

However, I've heard this fake Toyland employess comment twice now. Eric and I offered everyone who worked here a job if they wanted it - we were never going to come in and fire everybody. Justin and Cody, well, without their help in renovating the place, we would never have been able to open tonight. Only Cody is going to work here, and he is a fantastic hard worker, and an even better guy. I would hire him twice tomorrow.

We can not believe how great this neighborhood and trust us when we say we took a lot of notes tonight. We've got a GREAT staff.

Again, THANK YOU to everybody who is so positive and have given us SO MUCH support.

Ugh....fake Toyland employees...those people were so awful, that's why no one went there even after the neighborhood had forgotten what happened.

I thought they did a great job last night and the bartender we had was excellent. They were slammed but we got our food and drinks fast and our waters were always full. Not to mention both our burgers were cooked to perfection. The only thing I thought was lame was $5 for a High Life.

The one thing I think this place could improve upon is the noise level. I think it might just be that space, because I seemed to notice it at Toyland too. The place is all windows and there is nowhere for the sound to absord so it just bounces around.

And less is more, I dont need a description of the menu. They are burgers and I can read the toppings which I assume were carefully selected and not radnomly picked. If I am siting in the restaurant, I dont need to hear the shpiel about grassfed hormon free meat because either a) i knew that already and that is why i am at the restaurant and not another burger joint or b) i dont really care. This might have bothered me more because of the way the tables were set up, the server was behind me and talking and I couldnt see him and I just wanted him to shut up. I might have been more receptive if I could see the person. It's like I was listening to a recording of something uninteresting and I was forced to pay attention instead of enjoying the company of my jump-off.

Just my $0.02. I might be the 1%

Glad to hear everything went so well. I look forward to stopping in soon. But yeah, the fake Toyland thing isn't even a lame joke at this point. It's a dead an rotting corpse, so knock it off. If whoever wrote that was serious, wow, you really have that big of a problem with a 20 year old kid?

It looked really crowded last night around 8:30-9:00. Didn't want to fight for a table, so i'll try again another night. Alas, the dive neighborhood comment was true as it appears a lady was relieved of her belongings in front of the restaurant, but they arrested the suspect as he was in the liquor store in the 300 block.

Westside - come in for a beer on the house please cause - we're working out the kinks and that was a mistake!

We know about the noise levels and are working with a couple of sound engineers to rectify that - it is on the short list. Spreading the word on that would be great...One thing we have to remember is we are in America and we like to talk loud :)

Welcome to the neighborhood and best of luck. I look forward to checking the place out in the next few days.

Ignore all the malcontents, it is a blog comment section after all.

On a personal note, I'm going to make an effort to use the phrase "swan-graced" more often.

Chocolate city beer and big board burgers made this guy a happy camper last night. The owners were all over the place waiting tables and listening to feedback. Definitely a crew that is easy to root for.

Our table had a blast and will be making regular visits back.

$5 for a shitty beer...i was excited but I will pass on another fancy burger place.
I went to Shake last night and got a Heavy Seas IPA for $5 which is not a shitty beer.

2:21,
as The Big Board explained, the Miller High Life is NOT $5.

Good luck guys and welcome to the neighborhood! and to all the Debbie Downers with their negative comments - give it up already! they haven't even officially opened and you are ragging on them.

I live in the neighborhood and happened to be walking by last night & noticed they were open. I'm very excited to have another restaurant on that end of H Street. Stopped in with my sisters to have a meal. The food was great, some kinks to work out with the service (it was their first night afterall/ & soft opening), but mgmt. handled that well. Unfortunately, my sister's purse was stolen from the back of her chair while we were eating dinner. When I told one of the owners what had happened, he apologized (though it completely wasn't the fault of the restaurant) and handled the situation professionally. For that, I'm appreciative. -Before the purse stealing incident, we were having a wonderful time. The beers and burgers are great.

str8,
I'm thinking 2:21 just hadn't finished reading all the comments before leaving one of his/her own.
