FBI Raids Harry Thomas Jr's House

Today's a rough day for Ward 5 Councilmember Harry Thomas Jr. The FBI raided his home this morning and the IRS was reportedly also on the scene. There's plenty of news coverage, and tons of Twitter chatter. Here's a timeline from the City Paper, some photos from CP's editor, and a CP primer on exactly why HTJ's in such hot water.

I'm sure it's all just a misunderstanding.

anonymous 5:05:00 PM: Ward 5 has a wider array of housing stock. I'm not sure what you have in mind.

I know exactly where his house is. It's a small development off Montana Ave, north of NY Ave NE, but south of RI Ave. I go by there all the time. Never knew he lived there.

Oh, that is hilarious. I've driven by there as well. It's basically a suburban gated community plunked down in the middle of DC.

I've always kind of laughed and puzzled over who would live there instead of on a cul-de-sac in anonymous suburbia.

Now I have my answer: "People who would rather live in suburbia, but have residency requirements that force them to live in the city."

No wonder the guy's policies are so screwy; this is what his dream of Tomorrow's DC looks like.
