A look at what's going on in Trinidad, on H Street, and in the larger area north of Capitol Hill.

C.A.T. Walk Boutique Opens Tomorrow

A reader just emailed me with news that the C.A.T. Walk Boutique will open at 12 or 12:30pm tomorrow. They are going into the old Sonny's Plumbing space at 10th and H. The owner also told her that the Mayor might stop by around 2pm. C.A.T. Walk Boutique sells vintage clothing. Their previous location was in the 1400 block of H Street.

Looking forward to finally checking them out. I always forget about this store unless I happen to be walking to the Aldi. PS - I don't think the CAT Walk is exclusively vintage. I believe they will be selling consignment items along with new things.

Is this the place that was never open? My wife really enjoyed going there, but eventually stopped, since every time she made the journey, they were unexpectedly closed.

Georgetown Valet is a drycleaner. They have several around town, including one in NoMa on N at Constitution Square.

anonymous 8:01 -- How would it be a problem to be on the 500 block? Too many chicken bones? Late-night drunks? Noise? Customers of the wrong color?

Seriously, what are you talking about?

HOLLA! We be getting a Georgetown valet in the nicer "hill" west side! And they're getting a salvation army-like store down on the gross east end!

There's a Georgetown valet at 8th & C NE. Can't believe that you are so excited about a dry cleaners but whatever. I'll take the curated clothes store any day.

Yippee! West end is finally people! When I was renovating my house, I remember having to truck to the crappy coin op laundry on 4th and h. GTValet is one business that people use! these are the kind of anchors we need on "that side" of h street!

Hey poo....that place closed about 5-6 years ago.
Let's have a coin op laundry / coffee or bar set up. That would be fun.

Speaking of "that side", the liquor store on 3rd & H has a big "CLOSED" graffiti on it's wall and a sign about the new development. So that's gonna be history soon too!

was that liquor store that bad? i never went, but people seem to hate that place. personally, from the outside, i always thought the building looked cool. though, there were always bums hanging outside it..

Yeah. I live a block away from it and it has never bothered me -- nor were the people hanging around ever a problem when I passed by.

But it does now mean that the big block of vacant land is going to disappear and that's a good thing.

From what I can tell the "Closed" marks spray painted on the walls of the liquor store are just referencing the parking spaces. The business itself appears to still be open.

Eventually that location will become 22 condos developed by Capital City Real Estate.

On the liquor store, I see now that they've spray painted "Closed" by every potential parking space. I guess since it's going to disappear the store people thought it was cheaper than bothering to put up a no parking sign. Annoying.
