Catching Up with The Garden

Remember some time back when I wrote about a sex toy boutique and sexual resource center coming to H Street? Well, the owner has been making some serious progress, and wants to spread the word about her plans.  Click the image above to read more about the campaign. For those of you reading from work, the campaign video (which will NOT autoplay when you go to the campaign site) does not contain any nudity, depictions of sex toys, or anything like that. It's just a bunch of people holding up different signs while music plays. For more info about the Garden check out their website, or read this Huffington Post interview with the hopeful owner. If you do want to see not safe for work photos (no nudity) check out this BYT photo spread from a Garden party at Red Palace.

is The Garden a nonprofit group? Seems weird to ask for donations to a for-profit business.

What kind of business license will they have?

Is it possible for a neighborhood or sub culture to be over-sexualized? I think so and I don't find this endeavor particularly tasteful.

This is not about sexualizing anything, it's about educating people about sexuality, safe sex, loving yourself and others and about tolerance of other lifestyles. It is not a non-profit, it is about funding the start-up of a much needed resource in a very uptight community.

"Garden Party" in the Jackie Treehorn sense of the term.

I'm not uptight. I love the idea. Best wishes for success.

this place will be out of business within a year. somehow, i don't think the community-investment model is going to work.

Is this a place I can go to cruise for anonymous sex?
