A look at what's going on in Trinidad, on H Street, and in the larger area north of Capitol Hill.

Corner Cafe Has Soft Opening Today

The Corner Cafe (13th Street, just north of H Street) has a soft opening today. I've already heard from a pleased customer who tried an omelette and french toast. They are currently carryout only. Stop by and check them out.

Is this in the same space as what used to be E&R Restaurant? I ate there once and it was the best Mac & Cheese I ever ate.

Tried the cafe for two eggs and toast this morning. Yesterday, went in for French toast. I am really bummed cause I want this place to be great but I waited for OVER a half hour for the eggs despite very few customers. Other who were trying to place orders just walked out. One guy with a stroller ordered just a bagel and cream cheese and after sitting there for 20 minutes, just walked out.
The owners and manager seem really nice and motivated. The young woman at the cash register was sullen and incompetent. With the farmers market literally right outside, this place could have made a great first impression. Unfortunately, the service was awful. I will try again in a couple of weeks. Hope they get their act together.

. Bummer!

Great location, slow service. Need a new front counter person badly. I know they are newly openned but she was terrible and seemed unconcerned that she was making so many mistakes. Attitude is everything. Hope they make it cause want a place for breakfast that's close by.

Went yesterday - service and food was great. The young lady at the counter was helpful and offered suggestions about what to order . I got the curried chicken sandwich with sweet fries ... It was pretty darn good. One complaint though... Place was super hot, even with fans and a/c .
I will be back but not on a very hot day. With that said, maybe they are reading the comments or maybe the young lady has been replaced.

Yes, there is a different front desk person who was VERY nice. I hope she is a permanent addition.
