This is sick and whoever did this needs to pay for this act. I hope that someone knows something and will turn this person in. This person is the type of individual that eventually will turn this aggression on a human. I hope that he is caught well before this happens.

Almost without exception, serial killers started by torturing animals. Food for thought.

It breaks my heart. I find it hard to imagine they obtained a description without catching this piece of garbage.

This is beyond sick and detestable.

@ thom202 - I initially had the same thought as you, but then came up with a possible explanation. My first reaction would be to check on the welfare of the puppy (especially if it were my dog). In the course of doing that, the piece of s#it who did this may have run off.

Regardless, I hope they catch the scum and drop a cement block on his head.

There are a SHITLOAD of people in DC who see dogs as just another inanimate object they own, like a piece of furniture, with no more value and certainly worth no more consideration. Just walk/ride/drive around and look at the dogs tied to a rope in the back yard 24/7, the dogs penned up all day, etc.

All of our dogs have been NY Ave shelter dogs; and some of the stories you can get there about how dogs end up there, or at the Animal Rescue League, are heartbreaking. And what makes them far, far moreso is that you know that the people treating animals these ways just sincerely absolutely do not care.

This is seriously SICK. Unfortunately, even if they do catch the dude, he's likely to get off with a slap on the wrist. There seems to be no punishment in DC.

i am so angered by this. the worst thing is that these folks, the ones who torture/kill animals, usually turn out to be criminals. this needs to be nipped in the bud.

Maybe there's something particularly detached for me, but I see this as another crime. Much like a human murder. I don't feel any sort of vengence of the need to say there is terrible or any of that normal mob reactions stuff. I don't know and I wont say if this is the making of a serial killer, or a dumb kid. We simply don't know enough, beside what's been shared and what we see in that rather sensational photograph. I hope the person get's caught on the off chance that he needs help, but I'm not sure this crime goes anywhere near the top of the cue of unsolved violent crimes.

While it's bad, we need to keep it in perspective.

Crimes happen, we live in a city. People here have through other people in to trash compactors alive. I'm not very moved about that any more, so the death of a dog simply makes me what to find the person, fix them if possible, have them do their time, and then guild them back to community. Else we will just have re-offense.

Someone who would do this to a puppy can't be fixed. They have a part of their soul, their humanity missing. Gone.
