Here's a response to the Atlantic Cities bus stigma article that I posted here last week.

I believe we first started talking about Hikari a little over a year ago. Aside from occasional construction notes, there hasn't been much to report other than the liquor license app last fall.

Finally, an alternative to the terrible service at sticky rice.

Both articles bring up great points. For the writer to dismiss the prescense of a bus riding stigma is wrong. There absolutley is a stigma held by some, so they don't ride the bus. I have some friends that feel this way and won't ride the bus. Actually I know a small few that won't ride metro either. I agree with the writer in that the bus system need not try and correct this.

As a regular bus rider (D8/X2) who falls squarely in the middle of the
"choice vs. captive" spectrum described by the second author, I also agree with the previous post that bus ridership does carry a stigma. The bus needs to be viewed as a legit and convenient alternative if more "choice" riders are to see it as a viable alternative to their cars. For me, avoiding the parking issues, the traffic and the gas required to drive 20 blocks for dinner is a no-brainer. Take the bus!

I'd ride the bus more if I understood the routes better. Is there a smartphone app i am missing?

it's like 3 bucks. or yu can just get the sched online...the buses are pretty basic especially if you use the same two or three all the time.
