larThat's great... so the few can clean up for the many.

I was just working on my front yard and noticed a group of under-ten youths having a grand ol' timme of throwing bottles and cans at the windows of the Rec Center next to Wheatley... under the non-supervision of three parent-types, as well as the five or so teen-to-twenty-somethings that were cheering them on.

"Hey, cut that sh*t out!" Was met with a blank stare... the follow on "I guess someone else will have to clean that up, then?" Was met by a visible scoff and a slow walk away (and the typical scattering of kids reminiscent of Talibs in Afghanistan after Soldiers or Marines arrive) leaving their "toys" behind (along with the piles of other trash along the basketball court fence).

I'm not terribly discouraged though. I'm here for the long haul. I'll pick up the trash they throw, I'll keep improving my property (and help my neighbors)... and the rent will get too damn high and they'll be forced ito be Maryland's problem. NO one has a "right" to live a city they don't care to be custodians of...

...and I'm going to vote to re-elect the President of the United States - Barack Hussein Obama

The beautification day is a worthy project. All to often the bulk of volunteers come from the suburbs. Despite outreach, many residents don't participate. If there ware ideas on ways to improve this please share them with DCPS. It would be great to get local parents and non parents involved
