Mythology Coming to H Street?

IMG_529

In looking over this month's ANC 6A Economic Development and Zoning Committee meeting I spied a listing for a potential new business at 1005 H St NE. That business is a restaurant called Mythology. 1005 is the old Willpower Fitness space. It's pretty large building, with nice tall ceilings.

Want to learn more? Attend the meeting:

Sherwood Recreation Center (640 10th St, NE)
2nd Floor Community Room

Too bad because H St could use a gym.

Yup, spoke with Anwar Saleem about this (the restaurant coming to Willpower). Wasn't sure if it was public info, but now the word is out. The restaurant to bar ratio is evening out nicely, now all we need is more retail like The Daily Rider.

I'd like to see more live music venues come to H Street.

Never understood how that place sat equipped but unused for years. Would love to know how that made economic sense vice paying someone ten dollars an hour to sit at the door and operate the place. I don't think you'd have to sell that many memberships to offset the cost of keeping the doors open

No, sorry, just that it was a restaurant. It came up because I asked specifically what was going on with the Willpower building, because it has sat empty for some time. Sorry folks, I neglected to ask about the type of cuisine, projected opening date, etc, this was just in the middle of a long conversation about the future of H Street.

side note: Construction at 335 H St NE, what's going there? Looked like there may have been a stop work order posted (orange colored paper?), but I was passing on the X2, so other than spotting the address and the color of the notice (which I think signifies stop work?), I don't have more info.

was at the meeting for another issue but listened to the presentation on mythology. 6-8 months to open, but of course that's very loose. they've got a proof of concept, but dont have all the details worked out. talked about having an area above the entrance that would overlook the dining area where a jazz band or other live music would be. upscale casual was their description, steakhouse, chop house. 90ish seats. Mark Medley is involved and seemed to have a good grasp on neighborhood issues like parking, noise, etc.
