What do people not like about Popularise? I was not able to attend last night's meeting but live around the corner. I'm waiting for (hopefully) more renderings to be posted, but I like the Popularise proposal best so far. The Yes! Market proposal from NDC doesn't sound bad - it would be great to have a small market at that end of H, even if it's a Yes!.

In general I like the focus on community services and local retailers. I would be curious how that could be guaranteed or committed to.

I'm a bit concerned with the building massing along 13th, which would be questionable across from Wylie Street. Architecturally I like the Argos rendering the best by far, but three bedroom units? To me, that would really hurt housing affordability.

They all seem to have missed the boat in not showing MY Bikeshare station in the renderings.

The popularise building looks nice, but their problem is that they litter all of their proposals with the all of the hot, trendy, businessy lingo that can think of.

Local-Yeah
Social-Yeah
Artists-Yeah

Why not have a cupcake factory in the basement too?

Its just annoying. But hey if their dad will be their to bail them out so we dont have half finished crap there for years, go for it

Heh, I know they're buzzwords but, well, I like them. For me, I like the incorporation of an Arcadia market - which looks like it would be great based on their website. I think the Yes! Market is getting the NDC proposal a number of votes, but Arcadia could be just as convenient without the yuppie factor.

I do not support a cupcake factory. We have Dangerously Delicious, and I am a pie man.

What hilarious about popularize is that they are bound to loose money with this venture managing all their "investors." I think its a great idea, but a terror to actually implement. Their customer service will be a nightmare to fund....

Also, who the fuck proposed a Yes Organic. I'm financially stable and can't even afford to shop there.

Pay toilets, please.

i didn't see any of the proposals, but it seems too small for a market.

Maybe a cool coffee shop, light retail, or a bar or arcade.

Would be great if we could have a library there.

All the plans put in less parking than the residents of the new building will need, in a neighborhood that already has less existing parking than the existing residents need.

Therefore, all the plans suck.

I dislike Popularise because of what happened at the other spot on H. The business that won the popular vote didn't get selected (had funding, an extensive business plan, the support of many local businesses on H) and the Popularise folks' response when questioned about their choice to put in another (not voted on) business was along the lines of "Just because it's popular like the prom queen (??) doesn't mean we have to support it." So....lemme get this straight....you name yourself POPULARise, but eschew the popular choice after mining all my contact info...I just...can't. Also, the terms of their business agreements keep changing, making it very difficult to work with them. Don't count on any of the options listed for this site to become a reality, and please for the love of gawd don't give those guys your contact info to "vote" for your favorite...
