It's been an eventful weekend around here.

It all started Thursday around 11pm when three men robbed the gas station at 1376 Florida Avenue. MPD was already in the area, and quickly arrested the three suspects.

On Friday about 10:55pm three men robbed the 7-Eleven at 8th & Maryland Avenue (on Capitol Hill). One suspect was arrested soon after. Here's an email from MPD about it:

On Friday January 25th, at approximately 10:55 PM, First District officers responded to the report of an Armed Robbery of the 7-Eleven at 8th and MD Ave NE. Officers arrived to the scene quickly and a description of the suspects was broadcasted, along with a description of the vehicle they fled in. Officers on the scene learned that two robbers, one armed with a handgun, entered and robbed the establishment and individuals in the store. Moments later, officers canvassing the area spotted a vehicle matching the description at 3rd and L Sts NE and attempted to stop the vehicle, which fled. Another 1D officers spotted the vehicle at North Capitol and L Street, where the suspects bailed out and fled on foot. Officers established a perimeter and conducted a thorough search of the area. One suspect was located and subsequently arrested for Armed Robbery. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle used had been reported stolen. This case is under investigation by the First District Detectives Unit, who are continuing to purse other suspects. Anyone with information concerning this case is asked to call the police at (202)727-9099. Anonymous information may be submitted to the department's TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging to 50411. Additionally, please call 911 if you observed suspicious persons or activities.

As reported earlier, Saturday around 2:30am a man opened fire inside DC Sound Stage (2403 Benning Road). The Washington Post has more details regarding this incident.

A little before 8pm last night there was a carjacking at the Starburst Intersection. Here's the MPD text alert:

Then last night, someone fired shots at officers while they were in an unmarked car. From a local listserv:

At approximately 10:00 pm, Fifth District police personnel were requested at a home in the 1200 block of Penn St. N.E. for a fire. The residence was damaged, however, there were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is being investigated by the District of Columbia Fire Department.

Man, you gots to be so dumb to rob that 7-11. There are always police coming and going from that place. I'd say about 1/2 the time I walk in I see cops.

Saw a car chase starting at 12th and I this afternoon - Guy in an old Lexus took off from the cops. Looks like they caught up to him around 11th and Maryland - the car at least. Not sure if they caught the guy or not.

Also three cars broken into on 1200-1300 block of I on Saturday night. Don't leave stuff in your car.

We've had our car broken into twice recently and there is really, absolutely nothing of remotely any value in our car. The window repair guy said he's been seeing a spike in car break-ins in the neighborhood recently.

there was also a robbery on thursday morning at a convenience store at 18th and D, NE. i don't know what's going on, but crime is exploding on capitol hill. i'm a 20+ year resident and have never seen so many robberies and murders. it feels like the early 90s all over again!
