A look at what's going on in Trinidad, on H Street, and in the larger area north of Capitol Hill.

MPD Taking Steps to Avoid Incidents at Shoe Releases

I thought everyone might be interested in the following missive from MPD (in light of the recent incident where a man fired a gun into a crowd during a sneaker release event on H Street). It's good to know that MPD is being proactive.

There have been several incidents in the city over the past year that have occurred outside of shoe stores that were hosting a “release” of a new shoe model. In the past, MPD was not notified in advance of these events and usually we became aware when a crowd would begin to gather outside of retailers. First District Officers have met with shoe stores’ managers in 1D, who have agreed to provide advance notice to the First District when a shoe release is scheduled.

So a well-publicized shoe release surprised MPD? If that's any indication of their level of intel gathering, it doesn't give me much confidence they're plugged in to actual criminal matters.

12:15,
I don't follow sneaker releases, so I wouldn't know the schedule. MPD getting a little heads up can't be a bad thing.

If only these idiots could control themselves when a sneaker is released we wouldn't need to devote extra police resources to babysit a bunch of teenagers buying something.

if you were in NOLA, some dude would be asking you "I bet you $5 I can tell you where you got them shoes"...and after balking at said prospect and accepting the bet, he's say, "you got them shoes on the street". Hand over your $5. No shooting involved.

12:10, can you please explain for us what you mean. i just don't see it. calling out "racism" doesn't really help us to think about it or lessen it. all it does is isolate us.

People wouldn't need so many new shoes if we spent more time mending bad soles.

8:35,
12:11 is a regular troll on this site. I delete almost all of his posts, but every so often I like to leave up one of the more harmless posts just to show how inane his posts truly appear to the actual readers of this blog. Typically he likes to write about raping people in alleys, or sometimes being raped in alleys, or on buses, or in the local bars. Apparently he has also worked at half of the bars on H Street, and also had sex on the bars (or behind the bars, or in the bathrooms) of pretty much every bar/restaurant on H Street. He has also gotten food poisoning from eating at at least half of them. Also, the artichoke dip sucks everywhere, the food has gone down hill everywhere, this neighborhood is unsafe, and anyone who raises children around here is selfish. If nothing else, he's a good study on what happens when people don't take the meds that they clearly need. So, if you ever see a random comment pulled, it's probably because that guy wrote it.

There is a Michael Jordan Nike shoe release coming soon at Modell's at Heckinger Mall. I forget the exact date, but there is a sign on the door about it. The sign reminded me about the recent shooting.

Well, it's true, the artichoke dip is terrible at Granville Moores and parts of the neighborhood are dangerous.
