A look at what's going on in Trinidad, on H Street, and in the larger area north of Capitol Hill.

Sol Mexican Grill Coming Soon to 1251 H Street

It seems like only a few weeks ago a friend was remarking that nothing seemed to be happening at the former home of Danny's Carryout. How wrong we were based on a little something tweeted today by Sol Mexican Grill food truck. Congrats on your new location guys! More info here.

So, in the next few months, three new taco/burrito places (Sol, Chupacabra, and Tacos Impala)are opening within a few blocks of each other?

Aye carumba, it's a mexican renaissance on H St.

1:58,
Impala is a full service cantina and restaurant. I think Sol is more like Tayor or Shawafel. Chupacabra is a taco stand with outdoor seating. Not sure of the timeline for Chupacabra. I also expect to see some Mexican items at Chicken Tortilla.

Forgot about Chicken Torilla. They closed up their Navy Yard/Barracks Row shop (permanently?) about a month ago. Their chicken was really good. Burritos and other stuff wasnt special. The place was kind of a CF. It looked like a Chipotle set up but then someone would order fries and one of the not-enough workers would have to go to the fryer and the line would stop. Or someone would order a sandwiich. Then, they'd have to ring you up...Credit card machine was slow...
