Paint Job Wrapping Up at Da Luft

DSC_0057
It's been a very busy week for H Street, and I finally managed to snap a couple of photos of the exterior of Da Luft (1242 H Street). Da Luft was originally floated as a seafood restaurant, but is looking a little more clubby these days based on its website. I should mention that similar concerns (sans website) were raised about Smith Commons (1245 H Street) because they planned a bar on each level, and those worries turned out to be without merit. Smith Commons serves some excellent cocktails, but they also serve really awesome food. President Obama even dined there.

I like the purple. I kid of wish the diagonal gray stripes all went in the same direction (at the top, the direction appears inverted from the direction of the stripes on the bottom). Cool color scheme, though.

Anyone know the meaning of the name "Da Luft"?

I believe it just means "the air."

Is their website for real?

OMG, why did they make their website live already?

It's full of stock photos and latin text. Or maybe elderly white gentlemen in expensive suits will be ordering bottles of wine-- in latin of course.

Haha their website is in dire need of a takedown and redo. Someone get a marketer, STAT

Interesting observation re floors with bars. Correct me if I am wrong but all sit down restaurants on H St have bars on every level? Sticky Rice just happens to be Sushi.
