A Family Friendly July 4th Option

I wrote earlier about a couple of good H Street rooftop bar options for the 4th, but I failed to mention an excellent family friendly (but fun for all ages) option right here in our own neighborhood. NoMa has a big 4th of July party with all sorts of stuff happening. Seriously, they've got music, games, food trucks, free food (for those who get there early enough). If you have kids in tow, this is absolutely the place to go. In addition to everything I listed below, they also have a moonbounce, facepainting, balloon animals, and a (participation encouraged) parade for decorated bikes/trikes/wagons, and dogs. They will even have a crafts area for kids to make hats, and dress up their bikes for the parade.

July 4th Bash Celebrate Independence Day right here in NoMa with our neighborhood bash, Thursday, July 4, 5-8 pm. Face painting, music, moon bounces, balloon artist, food trucks, games, and more will be at the Loree Grand Field on Second & L Streets, NE. The first 200 people will get free burgers! Bring your own picnic, use our grills, or get dinner or a snack from one of the food trucks on site.

Dress to impress – there will be a parade at 6 pm! Awards will be given to the best decorated bicycle, tricycle, 4-wheeler (wagon), and dog. There will be a Parade Decoration Station with materials for children to decorate their bicycles, create hats, and unleash their inner artist. Games for adults include corn hole, bocce and more. Come connect with your neighbors and celebrate our nation’s independence with your friends and family.

Want to lend a helping hand? We are seeking friendly volunteers to help kids decorate their rides and dogs for the parade, man the grills, and other fun activities. Please email Marketing & Events Associate Ali Newman at anewman[at]nomabid.org if you are interested.

Thank you to Capitol North Neighborhood Association, Eckington Civic Association, Bates Area Civic Association, Union Kitchen and DC Bocce League for partnering with NoMa BID for this event, and to Unleashed by PETCO and Metro Mutts for sponsoring our parade for children and pets. This free and public event is organized by the NoMa BID and site provided by Toll Brothers Apartment Living.
