DCPS School Beautification Day is Upon us Again

IMG_5862

It's all happening Saturday August 24th from 9am-1pm. Sign up now to get you first choice school. This is a really fun event whether you have kids, or not.  It's a great way to connect with neighbors, and learn more about your local school. Depending on your school, you might be painting, cleaning, moving supplies, sorting clothing/books/supplies, or doing a little yard work. Make sure you keep this in mind when dressing for the day.

I pay taxes for someone else to do this kind of work.

No you don't. Taxes have been cut to where there's no money to pay someone for that kind of work.

I'm much more suited for the work of say a principal or superintendent. I could certainly do that for a weekend. Gardener, painter, janitor, that's not really my jam, yo....

Don't they pay teachers to do that stuff?

Sounds like the previous posters all attended DC schools themselves... lazy and arrogant

This just seems to me like more free handouts like that minimum wage bull for Walmart employees.

Really? When was the last time DC cut taxes? And what of that $417M surplus DC ran in 2012? And the estimated $488.5M surplus for 2013?
