Home of Trinidad Market (AKA Mike's) Listed for Sale at $425k

IMG_5386

The owner of the building at 1322 Florida Ave has listed it for sale at $425k. Though the sale would not necessarily impact the lease, some neighbors have speculated that it could ultimately lead to the closure of Mike's. The shop owner has repeatedly complained that his store is not profitable. Not entirely surprising, considering that some residents have told me that they refuse to shop there due to his sale of ski masks (in the summer), multiple variety of mini scales, and synthetic marijuana (in the past), and his past habit of locking all customers inside the store until buzzed out by a clerk. I had even had an incident in which a clerk couldn't hear me, misinterpreted a hand gesture, and attempted to sell me a mini rose in a tube (an item generally regarded as a crack pipe). Following my complaint, the store was inspected, and temporarily shut down by the Department of Health for selling expired food. Since that time, the owner has (somewhat) cleaned up his act. We shall see what the future brings.

Isn't this also the place that had rats at one point? And is always getting held up at gun point? If so good riddance.
My mother in law who is from out of town once took a walk to this place with my 2 yr old. I nearly had heart failure when she told me that she went there. That place is filthy and attracts crime.
