Plan Ahead for Your Thanksgiving Turkey

Ok, I realize I'm rushing this a tad by mentioning Thanksgiving before Halloween is even here, but the first announcements for Thanksgiving fare are already coming my way. Did you know you can get your special bird from the H Street FreshFarm Market? Vendor Full Cellar offers two types of turkeys: broad-breasted white and bronze birds and heritage bourbon reds and blue slates. All are pasture-raised and the fresh, ready-to-cook birds will be ready for pick up at the H Street market the Saturday before Thanksgiving (November 23rd). The broad-breasted typically weigh between 15-25 lbs. and cost $5.50/lb. and the heritage birds will typically weigh between 8-18 lbs. and are $8/lb.
