Twelve Chef Candidates Compete for  “Commander in Chef” in Support of Tommy Wells for Mayor

Washington, DC – Twelve of the best chefs on and near H Street, NE will compete at the Atlas Performing Arts Center, Tuesday, October 22 at 7pm in support of the Tommy Wells for Mayor campaign. Join co-hosts James Loots, Chuck Burger, Topher Cushman and Elsa Huxley for a different kind of political race: the one that will determine the area’s first Commander in Chef.

Each chef will submit one signature dish to be sampled by attendees who will then cast their ballots to elect the winner.

In addition to great food, Commander in Chef will feature complimentary beverages from local businesses–including DC Brau’s [No] Corruption IPA–served by all-star bartenders from well-loved DC establishments.

“I’ve made bringing opportunity and growth to every part of DC a cornerstone of my campaign and H Street restaurants boast some of the best chefs in DC,” said Wells. “Every neighborhood wants the same things: great shops, safe streets, high-quality schools and job opportunities. As mayor, I’ll build on our successes to ensure that every part of DC is a great place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Dish Entry: Roman Ravioli - hand-made ravioli, cremini mushroom, spaghetti squash & ricotta in white wine sauce.

Chef Andy Peters | “The Quickest Step to Your Heart” | Quickstep Catering

The Queen Vic | “The Full Monty”
Entry: 48-hour brisket sous vide with sweet potato pure, fried onions and pan jus

Chef Pablo Cardoso | "The Back Nine" | H Street Country Club
Entry: Tamales: Slow-cooked Pork in Achiote sauce wrapped in corn masa and steamed in banana leaves. Served with roasted tomato salsa, shiitake mushrooms and drizzled with crema.

Chef Tate | "The Grillmaster" | Inspire BBQ
Entry: DC style pulled chicken served with cornbread topped with Bowlslaw.
