Become A Samurai Right on H Street!

Samurai Training Academy 1 Photo by Alan Page

Well, it may take you awhile to become a full-fledged samurai, but you can start working towards that goal now at the Samurai Training Academy, located at 905 H St, in the H Street Connection strip mall. I spoke with Robert Lowry of the Academy and he arranged for a special promotional offer for Frozen Tropics readers.

As a special promotion, you can get 20% off the Academy's Level 1 Womens' Self Defense Class or Mens' Self Defense Class when you email the Academy at boblowry@samuraitrainingacademy.com with the special code FTHST. The class is held on Saturdays from 1:00 to 3:00 and the typical cost is $45 dollars. Send them your name, your interest in registering for that class, and the discount code.

Additionally, the Academy offers a range of martial arts classes (Karate, Jujutsu, sword), for children and adults. The schedule for the classes being offered by the Academy can be found here.

If you go (or have already gone), please drop a note in the comment section letting us know what you think of the Academy.

Well, thanks for getting the women a discount. Why can't the men get a discount. This seems pretty ridic, and I'll never go there.

9:08,
I know Alan only mentioned the women's self defense class, but they also offer one for men. I bet they would honor the discount on that one. Shoot them an mail.

Men are welcome to the discount as well, generally they come to the Jujutsu class. Stop by and join a class. The YouTube that was posted on this blog is not what the Samurai Training Academy represents, if you would like to see a demonstration of a technique watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGeRVCZ7-64

My child has now earned his orange belt and is very excited about continuing his class with Samurai Academy. As a parent, I saw value and progress every time he attended class. The discipline that those children displayed was awesome. Mr. Lowery also shows them compassion, teaches them respect and rules and most importantly, to love one another. Cant wait until class resumes as I enjoy watching the children's progress. Happy Holidays

I'm happy for this new business opening up and will swing by sometime to check it out. But I thought the strip mall was supposed to be redeveloped in the near future? With the new businesses opening up (this place and the 7-11), does this mean the redevelopment has been postponed?

Will Keanu Reeves be there?

The video posted by anon 9:24 is not a true representation of the Samurai Training Academy. My granddaughter, like Keisha's child just earned her orange belt and is very excited about the classes she attends with Master Bob..in fact, she runs all the way to class each Tuesday and Thursday and we are usually very early. We also see the value and progress that the children in this class learn each and every time they attend class. Their listening and discipline has improved 100+%. Master Bob teaches them in such a "quiet manner" that they do listen to him when he explains what will happen next and what moves they need to learn.
Please stop by and view this class which is for ages 6-10? on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6-6:30pm.
Great class, great atmosphere and great teacher.

I am thrilled Samurai Training Academy opened up in the H Street neighborhood! I took an intro to the Women's Self Defense class several months ago and really enjoyed it. Bob is a skilled and truly effective instructor with a great ability to identify and build on his students' strengths.

I look forward to taking future classes at Samurai Training Academy and would recommend it to anyone I know!

H Street is lucky to have this new business. In my two months of taking classes at the Samurai Training Academy I've learned a great deal - well worth the reasonable prices. Bob himself is a consummate professional. His classes effectively teach self-defense and fighting techniques - just as important are the values and ideas implicit in the education, which help to form maturity, self confidence, and character.

Master Bob, if you're reading - these testimonials from your customers are very encouraging. Could you arrange for folks to speak with Keisha, Diane, Erica, Rachelle, Catherine, and Patrick to learn more about your academy from a parent's perspective?

It's quite nice that you already have such an established and vocal customer base.

Anonymous,

Thank you for your interest, I am sure the Parents would gladly talk to you, they are at the school every Tuesday and Thursday with their kids at 6:00, they are always there to watch the class and their children. You can come and see for yourself and talk to them there, they often refer the school to other parents. Patrick is an adult so you can see him at 7:30 typically. I hope to see you at the school some night or you can call me at 202-905-2627 if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Bob

10:02,
I know exactly who at least one of those people commenting is, & she lives on I St NE. We've previously had in person conversations about her experience with this studio.

I took the women's self defense class a few months ago with Erica and agree that it was a worthwhile experience. I especially appreciated the focus on how to keep myself safe while falling if I am pushed, and how to remove someone's grip on my arm. Very practical. I would take the class again as a refresher.
