Have you made plans yet for New Year's Eve? Curious about local options? Here's a post outlining some choices right here in our neighborhood.

Little Miss Whiskey’s Golden Dollar (1104 H Street) always draws a big crowd ready to do it up right. That fact is belied by their motto: “Somnus ut Nos et Mortuus” (We’ll sleep when we’re dead). They plan to welcome 2014 in with an event featuring four DJs and an open bar if you pony up $70 (or $15 and pay for your drinks). This 10pm –3am event is for patrons 24 and older, and they don’t accept credit cards at the bar (but they do have an ATM).

Not to be outdone, the Rock & Roll Hotel (1353 H Street) has eleven DJs on two floors. Tickets will set you back $80 in advance, or $100 if you buy them New Year’s Eve. Tickets include an open bar a first come, first serve appetizer buffet starting at 8pm, and a champagne toast at midnight.

Does the idea of dressing yourself up in 1920s costume interest you? If so, Red Rocks (1348 H Street) has the party for you. Patrons are asked to arrive in costume, and proceed to the second floor lounge, or the heated (and covered) rooftop, starting at 9pm. Admission is $15, or $10 if you wear 1920s garb. That includes a champagne toast at midnight. Rail drinks and drafts will be $5, and the kitchen will stay open all night. Three DJs will provide the music as you dance the night away.

Perhaps New Year’s Eve at Vendetta (1212 H Street) is more your speed. A $65 ticket gets you an open bar, glo-bocce, charcuterie and cheese plates, DJs, and more.

Down at XII (1123 H Street) the price of admission is $30, or $50 for a couple. Enjoy a live band, a lavish buffet, and an open bar from 8-10pm.

Would you rather just celebrate with a nice meal? Try the $45 fixed price dinner at Boundary Road (414 H Street). It’s three courses, with an optional $25 wine pairing. Reservations required: (202)450-3265. They'll have party favors, & a champagne toast at midnight. You'll be able to watch the ball drop on the projector screen at midnight.

Here's the special dinner menu:

First
Champagne and Oyster Bisque
Or
Salad of endive, apple, blue cheese, and celery root

Second
Grilled Bison steak with chestnut sweet potatoes, garlicky broccoli, oxtail Demi glade
Or
Pan roasted winter flounder with caviar, blood orange guerre blanc, turnip puree, and wilted spinach
Or
Hearty winter vegetable farro risotto

Dessert
Selection of artisanal cheeses
Or
Warm apple pie with cinnamon ice cream

Avery’s (1370 H Street) flies under the radar of many folks (probably because it doesn’t have a street level space), and that’s too bad. It’s a great bar with friendly staff and customers. Inside you’ll also find plenty of local art on the walls. Tickets to their New Year’s Eve event vary depending on when you buy, but only slackers need pay the last minute $60 price. For that, you get a buffet from 10-11:30pm. with an open bar from 10-11pm, and the obligatory DJ in an intimate space. They are also offering a variety of premium table service options if you want to make the night more special.

Another good option is H Street Country Club (1335 H Street). Your $69 ticket entitles you to mini-golf, DJs, dancing, an open bar, a champagne toast, and the promise the space won’t get too crowded for you to enjoy and of the above. Show up early for a special fixed-price $59 three course couples dinner with mini-golf passes, and sparkling wine ($32 for a single dinner).

Looking for something off the beaten path? Try celebrating at Jimmy Valentine’s (1103 Bladensburg Road). They have a whole mess of DJs for your listening pleasure from 9pm to close. $15 gets you in, and $65 gets you access to the open bar.

Sticky Rice (1224 H Street) offers a no cover/no frills option to welcome in 2014. DJ Trevor Martin will spin a mix of reggae, hip hip, bounce, r&b, trap, and much more. Free champagne toast at midnight.

Treehouse Lounge (1006 Florida Ave) has tickets available for a special event with music, comedy, a "broken-word artist," and a burlesque performance.

This is by no means an exhaustive list of local spots putting their own twist on New Year’s Eve, so ask your favorite place what they have planned.

Turns out there were no golf passes for the three course couples dinner at H ST Country Club. Sneaky bastards.
