WBJ: Fatty's Tattoos & Piercings Expanding to H Street

DSC_0148
516 H Street is the third building in from the corner

Michael Neibauer of the Washington Business Journal reports that Fatty's Tattoos & Piercings (which is well established in Dupont) will open a second outpost at 516 H Street. That will make the third tattoo business within a block (Cirque Du Rouge at 416 H Street, & British Ink at 504 H Street).

i got a piercing at fatty's in dupont. great place. staff really know what they're doing, and the prices are very fair. i think they'll be a great addition to h street. i want to touch up a tattoo and get another one, so i'll likely just wait until they move in.

5:53,
I actually know multiple people who have gotten tattoos on H Street, & others who have asked me where to get them. Good tattoo artists don't work cheap (different than Poo Poo's assessment of fair), & often have devoted fans. I don't know of anyone who has gotten pierced here. But tattoos are pretty mainstream now. There is a huge demand for quality artists.

my comment about 'fair' was about piercings. still not sure about tattoos... but i'm pretty sure they don't have folks like Yan Black working there.

H Street rents will never be lower. I'm guessing the old location closes up within a year after the new one opens.

I had a medium-sized piece done at Fatty's last year. Very nice work by Gilda. Quality custom work isn't cheap, but you're PUTTING PERMANENT ARTWORK ON YOUR BODY. No, not the place for drunken mistakes, but I assume they'll be fine given their tenure in Dupont.

Matt at the Dupont location scarred my bicep pretty good three years ago. If he's coming to H Street, he had better bring someone who knows how to tattoo.
