WBJ: Copycat Co. Headed to Newsom Space
The Newsom building is the distinctive looking one with the single big arch. Here's a fun photo of the block way back in 2006.
Washington Business Journal's Michael Neibauer reports that 1110 H Street (next door to the Daily Rider) will become a bar restaurant called Copycat Co. The article says the 1,760 square foot space will consist of: "fast-casual dining on the first floor and a bar on the second."
No word yet on the type of cuisine, but Neibauer does mention one name behind the new venture: Devin Gong. Gong is a well known craft bartender. Gong previously tended bar at MiniBar's cocktail lab Barmini, so this is definitely one to watch.

love the old photos
3:35,
It looks SO different.
Funny, I was just thinking how it still looks mostly the same.
Here's a link to a flick I took of the papered over windows at the former Newsom space: https://flic.kr/p/ou1TPJ
Looks like work is underway. That picture is a few days old.
The world would be a better place if we just pretended the term "craft bartender" didnt exist
there appears to be some action at the Ohio Restaurant these days.

Whenever I hear someone describe themselves as a "craft bartender," I order a gin & tonic with rail gin. It's a great way to passive-aggressively deflate the ego.
..."fast-casual dining on the first floor and a bar on the second."
When are we going to get more higher-end restaurants like the Atlas Room? Enough with the "fast-casual dining" thing. We have enough of those already.
not enough of those on the west end...
thank you michos though.
