CP: Sally's Middle Name to Replace Pizza Parts & Service

DSC_0741 - Version 2

The Washington City Paper's Young & Hungry writer Jessica Sidman has details on what exactly is replacing Pizza Parts & Service (1320 H Street). Pizza Parts & Service was the newest venture from the Taylor Gourmet team, but it closed its doors suddenly in early February with only a cryptic explanation of what would happen next.

There were rumors flying around the neighborhood, as well as around the internet generally, that it might become a We the Pizza, but that is not the case. PoPville more recently posted a few details about the new restaurant and showroom that will take over the space.

It's going to be called Sally's Middle Name after the sister of owner Sam Adkins. Adkins and his business partner and wife Aphra Adkins will serve up a main menu that will vary by the day. That menu will consist of small plates, and don't expect proteins to dominate. The owners want to give the veggies their due. For dessert they'll have housemade ice creams with unusual flavors (white pepper and durian are offered as examples).

Head upstairs for a market area that doubles as a private event space. Toki chef Erik Bruner-Yang and his wife Seda Nak will partner with the Adkinses on this retail portion that highlights the skills of Aphra Adkins of works in design and fashion.

This place sounds fantastic, but the space seems really small for a sit down place. Very much looking forward to both places.

Sounds kinda bizarre, but whatever. Here's hoping it's another unique H Street spot that makes it.

sounds interesting

Unusual ice cream, veggies small plates with a store event space upstairs?

Does this make sense to anyone?

I wonder what they will turn it into next when the weird ice cream place closes in a couple of months?

By the way, the pizza at Parts and Service was gross.

Ruining perfectly good greens with duck fat. Sounds to me like a chef who doesn't actually like vegetables.

Anon 7:27,

I agree that this makes no sense. I hope the owner can make sense of it for everyone when it opens. At the moment, when it's below freezing outside, I have a sudden craving for something to chill my bones.

As much as I like & Pizza, that's not really pizza in my book. Could we please have a decent take out pizza joint on H Street?

I live on the West End and I miss good Danny's Chinese Delivery. It was
loaded with MSG and grease and had that
Im broke and all I can afford flavor!

I just ordered from Hunan Palace and wanted to cry it was soooo bland

Pizza parts and service was bad, but this sounds worse

Terrible idea. Pizza Parts and Service was the only good pizza option on H St. I will not eat ice cream here. I like to eat my ice cream straight out of the haagen dazs container while sitting on my couch.

If they sell Mac And Cheese Ice Cream and have high chairs, we are there.

I wish they would open a Thai Restaurant.

It's been coming soon for over 6 months

It would be awesome if we could get a few more solid, proven concepts on H. I'm all for a great restaurant throwing a few weird things on the menu, but this description sounds completely unappealing.

Also, what's with the ridiculous business names. Pizza Parts and Service and Sally's Middle Name both sound like businesses destined to fail.

Any updates on 6th St Bar and Grill? I thought they were trying to open in December. Im hoping they have some solid food and are a nice, casual, neighborhood spot.

I am so so sad that PP&S is gone. Order online, great pizza?? This is missing in our hood. I hate Manny and Olga's!

Even though I liked the pizza at Parts and Service, I've continued ordering delivery from We The Pizza.
