Not specific to this post, but I always felt that the "vacation" in "vacation bible school" was false advertising; is it an actual vacation where you go to the beach, the Poconos, etc... and learn about the bible? No, the bible school is the vacation. like a holiday in Cambodia.

MJ,

That is so very fascinating. I've always wanted to know what you've always thought about vacation bible school.

Cambodia is a beautiful country. I would love to vacation there.

If you get a lobster there, pay more than a dollar.

peeps - "holiday in cambodia" is, i think, a subtle reference to a song by the Dead Kennedys. for the uninitiated, it's a hardcore punk band fromthe late 70s that was active through the early 80s. *sigh*

poo poo -- what was it that made you think somebody didn't get that?

Poo Poo,
The Dead Kennedys actually played Rock & Roll Hotel last year.

Everyone, the Rock & Roll Hotel is a bar and live music venue on H Street. *meh*

Speaking of false advertising: the "Dead Kennedys" that played here last year did not include Jello Bifara. They're just a bunch of liars. They just want your money. They make me sick x6. They make me ill.

I am the post that posted "Cambodia is a beautiful country. I would love to vacation there." I was a punk in the 80's... I got the reference. Thought it was pretty juvenile.

And my "lobster . . .pay more than a dollar" was also a juvenile reference.

Anon the "I was a punk in the 80's" (sorry, I get all us Anons confused, we all just look the same), where you REALLY a punk or did you just dress up as one to test your limits with your parents?

To Anon MJ -- vacation references the school summer vacation, no false advertising

ack! my apologies! i didn't realize that folks on this board were so "with it". lol

BUT it's heartening that i'm not alone. punk will never die!

i mean, it's not like it's thriving, but hey - lemme pretend to be my old juvenile delinquent self for a moment in public, no?

gracias!

This seems like a dangerous place to send your child. They meet a certain "element" that is local to this neighborhood.

LOL - what does that even mean? Weren't all people that were teenagers and "punks" in the 80's testing the limits of their parents? Ohhh I get it, you had to be really cool and take drugs and read Baudrillard and constantly hate and lament the fact that more and more people were listening to the dead kennedy's or as a remember the phrase "posers".

Why not teach your children to think critically instead? No one alive has ever met God or has even chatted with her on facebook? Why do so many people claim to know what God's commands are? Why have so many religions since the beginning of time and thru present day do harm because they claim to know what God wants? Please teach your children to think for themselves!
