Author Tony Lewis Jr. reads from his memoir "Slugg: A Boy's Life in the Age of Mass Incarceration" starting at 6pm tonight at Maketto (1351 H Street). Lewis is the son of Tony Lewis Sr. who was a major drug kingpin during the District's crack cocaine epidemic. As this piece from WAMU describes, the book mostly focuses on Tony Jr.'s life after his father went to prison and the young man returned to District with his mother and found himself amidst the chaos of the crack epidemic. This event starts at 6pm. Signed copies of the book will be available for sale.
