Police Release Video in Bartender Assault

MPD released the above video of the suspect who caused injuries when he threw a glass into a bartender's face. I believe this is security video from Nomad Hookah Bar (1200 H Street). MPD is asking for the public's help in identifying this man. He is considered a person of interest in an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (a glass). This happened about 11:10pm on Monday, September 7th.
Recognize this guy? Call the MPD tip line at 202-727-9099, or anonymously text them at 50411.

Do they not have security? Can't imagine how this guy was allowed to casually walk away after that.

Security? What about all the punk customers standing around watching it happen?

Yeah, I have no doubt that if some guy twice your size suddenly threw a punch/glass/whatever at someone else and immediately left, your first thought would be to chase him down. Sure.

Whenever there's a public assault of some sort, you can always count on online heros complaining about the hesitation of bystanders; they themselves, of course, would have pulled their shirt apart (revealing the big red S underneath) and shown the assailant who's boss.

Yesterday, the Mayor and Police Chief announced that people caught with guns in DC most have previously been caught with guns before. Now if you are caught with a gun first time you will be given vocational training and job placement so you can become a productive member of society.

"Security? What about all the punk customers standing around watching it happen?" Why would Anyone in their right mind jump into an altercation? I don't care if he hits my mama. I will pick mama up and we leave the bar. People are crazy and I have nothing to prove other than walk away. There are many 6 feet under (Stiff) because they share your stupid theory on how to handle something that was none of their business.

@3:18 If you were being attacked You would be the first one screaming for help and bitching that no one stopped to help you. If we cant help each other then who is supposed to help people in need?

I knew someone that confronted someone that did exactly what this guy did to a bartender 2 years ago in Adams Morgan. His name was Rockwell Flint. He is dead now. Killed by the bottle thrower after he tried to be a Good Samaritan.

@Pamela The fact is we all will die at some point. No one wants people to get hurt but if those 4 men on the train in france did not try many more people would be dead today. You will do what you are capable of in life, but please don't tell others that they should run and hide. As a society we should encourage each other to help and not to look the other way when we are needed.

How selfish a society are we that we can't help out someone in need? This guy should have been asked to leave after putting his hands on the woman at the bar next to him. Security needs to step in for sure and the bar needs to work on that but we has humans need to all stand up and help someone else in need. Look out for each other. If you see something like this and are to scared to do something at the very least call the cops. If you are going to sit around and let people be bullied and harassed than stay home. Looking away helps no one.

sadly that bar has security, and that piece of shit still walked away without a care in the world.

Omg that is a terrible comparison. First, those guys on the train would have died themselves had they not intervened. This guy here was not threatening anyone's life, but he may well have chosen to do so had he been confronted. And second, the guys on the train had military combat training. Most people, myself included, have no idea how to handle ourselves in a violent situation. That's what trained police are for.

When seconds count, the police are minutes away. The police are not body guards and it not there job to stop crimes in progress. They are in the business of investigating and arresting people for crimes AFTER the fact. The idea the the police will ever be able to save you from anything is a fantasy that very rarely plays out. A police force actually capable of that would have to have hundreds if not thousands of times the manpower that DC police actually has.

It's sad that so many of you are accepting and excusing yourself for being cowards. No one would have had to take this guy down in a one on one fist fight, if four or five MEN had just stood up and restrained him. It's nothing that requires special tactical training, just some balls and a sense of duty and community which is obviously something all of you cowards lack. People like you are what allow guys like this to exist.

I'm all for minded your own business but when someone commits an unprovoked violent assault in front of your eyes it is your moral obligation and your legal right to do something.
