Screen Shot 2016-03-08 at 7.39.39 AM

The annual Rock 'n' Roll Marathon runs through our neighborhood this Saturday, and in addition to runners, it will also bring road closures and parking restrictions. Here's what you need to know about the event's impact in our area. Use this interactive map to navigate around the event, and be prepared for bus detours. The following roads in our neighborhood will be have closures and parking restrictions (times may vary, but you can check the chart to get an idea):

  • K Street NE (between North Capitol St NE & 4th St NE) from 7:30am to 12:15pm
  • 4th Street NE (between K St & I St NE) from 7:30am to 12:15pm
  • H Street NE  (between 4th St NE & 13th St NE) from 7:30am to 12:30pm
  • 13th Street NE (between H St NE & Constitution Ave NE) from 7:30am to 12:30pm

There will also be music played at select locations (be prepared for earlier noise from set up and sound tests):
  • 111 K St / K St NE and 1 St NE (8:20am to 11:50am)
  • 1207 H St. NE  (8:25am to 12:10pm)
  • 21st NE / C St NE (8:30am to 1:35pm)
The H Street Runners group will be cheering on runners from 12th and H Street NE starting at 8:15am. Stop by for an early morning beverage at the Queen Vic (1206 H Street) and join them in supporting the runners as they pass mile 11.2.

As you can see, the course takes runners right down a long stretch of H Street. This is a great chance to grab a seat at a local establishment and watch the runners pass by. It's a festive and fun event that happens once a year.

Yay! Spring is officially here! Time to get out and meet some neighbors while welcoming runners to the neighborhood and encouraging them to run the next 2 or 15 miles.

Time to remember to park my car on the other side of 13th Street.

This Summer Cleveland will play host to what promises to be the most contentious Republican National Convention in more than a century.
Media credentials alone, have already surpassed all records. And reservations in yet uncompleted hotels, are already sold out.
But Cleveland has a problem. The city’s national perception is mired in a brutally-accurate acknowledgement of its’ place, among cities ‘least likely’ to have a vacationers appeal.
Cleveland does have a scant few things which are truly unique. One, is their current cultural resource, in fine artist, Marc Breed.
On July 16th at 9PM, on the newly-refurbished mall, directly in front of Terminal Tower/Horseshoe Casino, a public performance piece will take place, to an estimated crowd of some 3,500 people.
“Not the easiest artist to anticipate, we can only assume, that whatever happens, people will discuss this event for decades to come.” –Crain's Business News
Reserve your spot for this most secretive endeavor created by an artist who works across the bounds of artistic media. And has absolutely fewer boundaries yet, in what he feels appropriate.

Should you have any unique artistic qualifications, be able to keep this project a sworn secret, be willing to work for peanuts, and tolerate a dictitorial task-master; you may forward a bio [with media]. You can be assured, that on your deathbed, this particular evening will be one of very few memories etched clearly in your minds.

Anyone have any ideas on exactly how much money this race gives to charity? Which ones?

Rock and Roll races are all for-profit

If Rock and Roll races are for profit, then why are they allowed to tie up so much of the city every year? Do they pay for all of the cops and street cleaning?

The race has started. Anyone have any idea on how many cops are used for this thing?

The race is a great event that brings a lot of revenue to the city.
