Dining Out for Life Thursday 4/28
This Thursday the local restaurant community will unite to help provide so much more than a meal. The funds raised through Dining Out for Life will benefit Food & Friends, a non-profit organization that supports children and adults in the Washington area facing HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Two H Street spots are joining the effort and donating 25% of the check totals for the night: Le Grenier (502 H Street) and Red Rocks (1348 H Street). Trinidad resident Robin Jones (who emailed me about the event) will be at Le Grenier to provide information about Dining Out for Life and Food & Friends.
Sounds like the perfect excuse to enjoy a nice night out and do some good at the same time. Go ahead and make that dinner reservation. Can't do dinner? Grab a drink or two at the bar!
More about Food & Friends:
Six days a week, Food & Friends delivers specialized nutritious meals and groceries to thousands of children and adults facing serious illnesses, including HIV/AIDS and cancer. This year alone, more than 2,800 community members in our region are depending on more than 1 million meals for their well-being and continued care. Food & Friends' staff of professional chefs and community dietitians design meals that meet the special dietary needs of persons living with a broad range of illnesses. These confidential services are provided free of charge to individuals and their families and caregivers
This is Food & Friends’ 19th year participating in Dining Out for Life. In 2014, more than 25,000 individuals dined out to support Food & Friends. Thanks to the support of restaurant partners, more than $75,000 was raised through diner contributions and Dining Out for Life as a whole raised over $200,000 for Food & Friends services. 65 restaurants are participating this year and the goal is to raise $140,000.
