Local News Brief: First Folio at Gallaudet, Sushi Burritos, & Local Crime

IMG_2002

The exhibition First Folio! The Book that Gave Us Shakespeare is traveling the country, and it's making a stop at Gallaudet University (800 Florida Avenue) October 7th through the 30th. The university will hold a number of events that are free and open to the public to celebrate (the opening ceremony is not among those, and some other events require registration).

Washingtonian reports that Buredo, which serves sushi burritos, is headed to 625 H Street.

There was a shooting and a stabbing in our area yesterday. The shooting happened just before 3 p.m. in the 1900 block of Capitol Avenue in Ivy City. The crime alert included a look out for a black male with "a backpack occupying a red in color new model Lincoln Sedan." According to an MPD email sent to a listserv the male victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition. An alert for the stabbing in  the 1500 block of Benning Road (near the Starburst) went out at 4:45 p.m., and the alert noted that police had stopped a suspect.

MPD also released the video below of persons of interest in an August 3rd aggravated assault in the 1300 block of H Street.
